
ICON.S Benelux Conference « Public law in an era of contestation and systemic change »

We are pleased to announce the upcoming second chapter conference of ICON.S Benelux dedicated to ‘Public Law in an Age of Contestation and Systemic Change’. This conference is organised on 22 and 23 May 2025 at the Université libre de Bruxelles, in collaboration with the Centre de droit européen and the Centre de droit public et social.
The conference will also be the opportunity to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Centre de droit européen.
The conference will start with an event organised by the ICON.S Benelux Young Scholars Research Forum, on ‘Career Pathways for Young Public Law Scholars‘, featuring speakers working both in academia and other fields.
The conference will run over 2 days with over 50 panels covering a wide variety of topics related to public law, European law or international law.
It will also include 2 plenary sessions with keynote speeches:
- one by Wim Voermans (Leiden University) on ‘The Story of Constitutions: Discovering the We in Us‘, with Patricia Popelier (University of Antwerp) acting as discussant; and
- the other by Herwig Hofmann (University of Luxembourg) on ‘Public Law in an Age of Digitalisation, Data Spaces and Data Requirements‘, discussed by Jurgen Goossens (Utrecht University).
