Each year, the Centre&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cde.ulb.be\/en\/research\/rapport-activites-bis\/\">annual report<\/a><\/strong> presents the projects in progress.<\/p>\n<p>These projects are often collective projects carried out with the support of the ULB Institute for European Studies, and involving large research consortia and partners from civil society. As an illustration, the following research projects are ongoing in 2023:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Jean Monnet EUqualis Center of Excellence (2021-2024)<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The project EUqualis, directly involving a dozen academics and\u00a0researchers\u00a0affiliated with the Institute,\u00a0aims to investigate\u00a0how the EU deals with the problem of inequalities\u00a0among individuals, territories and states. It has been\u00a0conceived\u00a0using a bottom-up, interdisciplinary approach.\u00a0The focus on inequality follows the previous work on European Solidarity and EU Crises produced at the IEE-ULB.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>More details are available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iee-ulb.eu\/en\/research-iee\/research-projects\/euqualis-iee-jean-monnet-centre-of-excellence\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>RED-SPINEL (2022 &#8211; 2025)<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4496\" src=\"https:\/\/cde.ulb.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/redspinel.png.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cde.ulb.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/redspinel.png.webp 200w, https:\/\/cde.ulb.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/redspinel.png-110x70.webp 110w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>RED-SPINEL stands for \u2018Respond to Emerging Dissensus: SuPranational Instruments and Norms of European Liberal democracy\u2019. Launched in October 2022, it will seek, in the next years, to analyse the changing nature of dissensus surrounding liberal democracy and its implications for EU supranational policy instruments.<\/p>\n<p>It is a 36-month long, 3.2 million euro, interdisciplinary, international and intersectoral Horizon Europe project involving seven higher education institutions: Universit\u00e9 libre de Bruxelles, Libera Universit\u00e0 Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli, Universiteit van Amsterdam, Universitatea Babe?-Bolyai, HEC Paris, Uniwersytet Miko?aja Kopernika w Toruniu and the University of Warwick. They are joined in the consortium by four non-academic partners: Peace Action, Training and Research Institute in Romania, Milieu Consulting, Magyar Helsinki Bizotts\u00e1g \/ Hungarian Helsinki Committee and Stichting Nederlands Instituut voor Internationale Betrekkingen Clingendael across eight European countries.<\/p>\n<p>More details are available <a href=\"https:\/\/redspinel.iee-ulb.eu\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The members of the Center are regularly involved in various research projects, individually or collectively.
