Researcher
I am an italian qualified lawyer, graduate cum laude at the University of Palermo in 2019. During my university years, I had the opportunity to study in Spain and Poland as an Erasmus student and conduct my thesis research on criminal procedure at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona, comparing the enforcement of European judgements in Italy and Spain as regards to the effects on the “res iudicata” principle. After my graduation, I worked as a trainee lawyer and legal consultant in the field of criminal law and immigration law, both in Italy and in Tunisia and I clerked at the Criminal Court of Palermo, gaining practical experience in cross-border criminal cases and the challenges involved. More recently, coupling my passion for EU law and policies with my previous experiences, I worked as a Blue Book Trainee at the EU Anti-trafficking coordinator Office of the European Commission. I speak Italian, English and Spanish fluently and I have an intermediate level of French. My project research is about the online dimension of preventing and combating trafficking in human beings, analysing challenges and perspectives for the EU.
